TypeShift is built around a simple privacy principle: your words are your own. The App does not log your keystrokes, does not read your snippet content, and does not send your data to our servers.
TypeShift never transmits your snippets, abbreviations, typed text, or any content you create to Monogram Creative, LLC. Exception: if you use the optional AI Macros feature, the resolved prompt text you embed in a snippet is sent directly to the third-party AI provider you configure (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). See Section 5 for details.
This Privacy Policy explains what limited data does change hands and why, so you can make an informed decision about using the App.
Monogram Creative, LLC is an Oregon limited liability company and the developer of TypeShift. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this Policy refer to Monogram Creative, LLC.

All of your TypeShift content is stored locally on your Mac:
We have no access to any of this data.
TypeShift offers optional iCloud sync, which is off by default. If you choose to enable it, your snippets and categories are synced via Apple's CloudKit service to your personal iCloud account.
This sync happens between your own devices using your own Apple ID. Monogram Creative, LLC does not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's privacy practices govern how iCloud data is handled — see apple.com/legal/privacy.
TypeShift does not collect, store, or transmit:
TypeShift interacts with the following third-party services in limited, specific ways:
When you purchase TypeShift, your payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy (A Stripe Company). We receive your license key from Lemon Squeezy but do not receive your payment card information.
Once per launch, TypeShift sends your license key to the Lemon Squeezy API to confirm it is valid and has not exceeded its device limit. No snippet data or keystrokes are sent. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy is available at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
TypeShift uses the open-source Sparkle framework to check for and deliver updates. When the App checks for updates, Sparkle sends a request to our update server at typeshift.monogramcreative.co/appcast.xml. This request may include your current app version, macOS version, CPU architecture, and system locale. This information is received by our server solely to serve the correct update information and is not stored, sold, or shared. You can disable automatic update checks in Settings → General.
If you enable iCloud sync, snippet data is handled by Apple's CloudKit infrastructure under your Apple ID. See Apple's privacy policy for details. This feature is opt-in and off by default.
TypeShift includes an optional AI Macros feature that allows you to embed {ai: your prompt} placeholders in snippets. When an AI Macro is triggered, the resolved prompt text is sent directly from your device to the AI provider you configure in Settings. Supported providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI (Grok), and locally-run Ollama models.
This feature is off by default. When enabled, the prompt content you include in your snippet is transmitted to your chosen provider under their respective terms and privacy policies. Monogram Creative, LLC does not receive, intercept, or store this data. You are responsible for reviewing your chosen provider's privacy policy before enabling this feature:
If you use a local Ollama model, no data leaves your device.
TypeShift requires macOS Accessibility permission to monitor keyboard input system-wide and perform text expansion. This permission is granted by you explicitly in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
TypeShift uses this permission solely to detect abbreviation matches and replace them with your snippet content. Keystrokes are processed locally in memory and are never logged, stored, or transmitted.
Because we do not collect your personal data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. All data TypeShift generates lives on your device.
To remove all TypeShift data from your Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/TypeShift/If you have iCloud sync enabled, you can delete the CloudKit data from System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
TypeShift is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at hi@monogramcreative.co and we will take steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top indicates when the current version took effect. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes via an in-app update notice.
Continued use of TypeShift after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
